Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting
held at Hinton St Mary Village Hall
on Tuesday February 25th 2025
at 7pm

2025.02 Minutes of the meeting of Tuesday October 29th 2024 were agreed as
a true record and duly signed.

2025.03 Declarations of Interest – none

2025.04 Matters Arising
Proposed Sewage Pumping Station
A representative from Bartlett Contractors Limited was present as was a representative from Wessex Water to give a comprehensive report on the work that needs to be completed in the village. Using maps and photographs the gentlemen answered questions from Councillors
regarding the decommission and reconstruction of the sewage system.
It was agreed that there would be some disruption to access roads but this would be dealt with sympathetically.

Parking around the White Horse
The Chairman reported that there were still some issues all of which are being handled by the Hinton St Mary Estate.

Speed limit in village
CW advised Councillors that the survey indicated the majority of residents are in favour of a speed limit of 20mph through the village. Data showing a near miss and collision incident has been collated. It was now necessary to complete the application form. There may be some extra charges and CW will ascertain the amount. Councillor Carole Jones suggested taking advice regarding the location of the signs.

2025.05 Updates from Officers

Planning – none

Roads, drains and potholes
MS reported that several drains were silted up and completely blocked on the main road and Councillor Jones will report the problem.

Speed Indicator Device
The Chairman reported that it was working well.

Village Garden
No report

Defibrillator
CW reported it is checked and ready for an emergency use.

Telephone Box
In good use as a library.

Finance
A cheque for the clerk’s salary was signed
A cheque for reimbursement to CW to Dorset Council for the speed survey work.
A cheque was signed for Community First Trading insurance premium
A cheque was signed for renewal of domain name to ICL web design
The Chairman proposed an increase to the Clerk’s remuneration and this was seconded by CW.

2025.06 County Councillors report
Councillor Carole Jones was pleased to announce that after a lot of hard work the opening of The Hub will be on Saturday. Everyone was welcome to go along and see the facilities and what will be an amazing community asset.
Councillor Jones advised that nationally NHS funding for hospices as been cut which is very sad.
