Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th June 2022 - 2pm-6pm

Just to update on the weekend and on behalf of the PCC and congregation of St Peter’s Church to thank everyone who gave their support, assistance, or opened their gardens.  Our thanks in particular go to Mr & Mrs Pitt-Rivers for opening their own garden and for allowing the use of the Tithe Barn.

The weather was less than perfect, but notwithstanding this over 500 people visited over the two afternoons.  The teas were as usual a great success and the Books, “Collectables” and Plant stalls were busy with visitors. New for this year in the Church was a small display of “Old Hinton” pictures and items of interest and we got lots of positive comments about this.  I can confirm that we have raised well over £6,000 for Church funds.  Although this is lower than in 2019, it is understandable given the current tightening of family budgets, rather variable weather over the weekend and the many other events going on at the same time.  These funds will greatly assist in meeting the budgeted costs required for the running and general maintenance work of the Church over the next two years.

Finally, I would be happy to collect any garden numbers/or direction signs for reuse at a similar event in the future, if they have not been removed already. If you have any photos taken over the weekend that you would be willing to share, please send them to Nick Bartley on and he will put them onto the village website.

Thanks, once again for your help and support.  Shane
